Y*nkee Pier®

Airport Breakfastary Food - Part IX
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
(Saturday, 8/17/2019)

https://www.flysfo.com/content/y*nkee-pier [1]

Place: Y*nkee Pier®

Location: Terminal 3, Boarding Area F near Gate 72, SFO; phonicular contact: 650-821-8938

Hours: open daily 5:00am (or so they say; I got there around 6:30am and it looked like they had just opened for business for the morning)

Meal: Greek Scramble ~ eggs scrambled with spinach, mushrooms, red onion, Feta & tapenade, served with home fries & choice of toast (I chose sourdough); to drink with the meal, a large glassa orange juice; and, to drink afterward while walking around waiting for my plane, a medium cuppa Peet's Coffee® Yosemite Dos Sierras

https://www.peets.com/coffee/dark-roast/yosemite-dos-sierras-organic

(I do not know if either Sir George Ivan or Maurice, the Space Cowboy,[2] like Feta and/or spinach, but they were playing both of these songs on the house-stereo while I was eating breakfast.)

I really enjoyed the geographic irony of eating at a place named Y*nkee Pier® when flying out of San Francisco heading towards Boston. Of course, I was half-expecting to find a seafood restaurant in Logan Airport on my return flight called "Dock of the Bay" or such.

They actually offered a decent variety of breakfastary items, even for stupid vegetarian-types. Ferinstance:

Tofu Scramble ~ egg whites scrambled with tofu, mushrooms, spinach, green onions, served with home fries and choice of toast;

NorCal Scramble ~ eggs scrambled with tomatoes, avocado, salsa verde, cumin sour cream, served with home fries & choice of toast;

or maybe even

Cinnamon Raisin French Toast ~ with fruit compote & pure maple syrup.

(The tops of the tables caught my eye as they were cartography-themed. Mine happened to be of the Monterey Bay/Monterey Canyon area.)

All in all, this was surprisingly a very decent breakfast. I was not really expecting to like a dish from an airport restaurant-kitchen as much as I did. It was served more in a frittata-style, which is nice. One of the nicer surprises was that the topping was made of an authentic Kalamata olive tapenade. However, if I had one small quibble (a quibblaki, perhaps?), it would be that they should have used tomatoes instead of mushrooms in it; that would have been a bit more Greek-y to me.

Their version of homefries were extremely good, too.

For condimentary supplementation, Y*nkee Pier® had Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce (Original Red Sauce), Tapatío® Salsa Picante Hot Sauce, and Cholula® Hot Sauce (Original) (but just one bottle that was semi-hidden in with a bunch of other condiments). I used a good amount of their Tapatío® on the potatoes.

(just a bit of a) Strange Coffee Interlude

I was hoping on finding a less ubiquitous Coffee purveyor than both St*rbucks and Peet's®, but SFO's Terminal 3 really lacked in choices. So, I just went for the worse of two evils and ordered whatever they were serving as the drip-Coffee choice at one of the Peet's® in the terminal.

Me: "What blend do you have this morning?"
Clueless Baristette: "Dark Roast!"
Me: "Yes, but which specific blend or roast are you offering this morning?"
CB: (has to go look at the bag of whatever blend/roast they have brewed... then just shows me the bag)
Me: (thinking "Really?!")

Peet's Coffee® Yosemite Dos Sierras ~ 6.8

Ella's American Kitchen

Never judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes...
but just make sure to sprinkle some Desenex® in them first, you never know where they might have been.

https://www.ellassanfrancisco.com/

Place: Ella's American Kitchen

Location: 500 Presidio Avenue
(on the corner of California Street)

(new-old) Hours: open for breakfast Monday through Friday at 7:00am; and All Day "Brunch" is available Saturday & Sunday at 8:30am (it seems that they have reverted back to their older/original hours once again)

Meal: Mixed Green Salad ~ cornmeal crouton, cucumber, radish, cherry tomatoes, carrots, champagne vinaigrette, with two poached eggs (to make it a bit more breakfastarily sound); to drink with the meal, a glassa Ginger Orange Juice Punch (with a plastic straw ~ Ha!); and beforehand, a medium (16 oz-er) cuppa Peet's Coffee® - Vanilla Cardamom Latte

https://www.peets.com/menu/seasonal-beverages/vanilla-cardamom-latte

(The first Lady Ella song is because today is the First of September. The second one is because... I don't never need no stinkin' excuses for posting two Lady Ella songs! D*mmit!)

Sadly, September brings with it the last month of Regular Season Baseball, so I am running through my Breakfastary Starting Rotation once again. To start it off, I simply made a return visit to Ella's American Kitchen (see last 'blog-entry from Sunday, April 8th, 2018).

I had initially ordered the Chilaquiles (slow roasted pork [which I requested sin la carne de cerdo muerto, en descomposición-stuff], tomatillo salsa, lime crema, queso fresco, two eggs); however, my waitress/server lady-person came back a few minutes later and told me that I would need to change my order. Apparently,  as reported to me by the Mexican maître d'-guy, their tomatillo salsa is not vegetarian-friendly. (Who makes a tomatillo salsa with meat in it?) He told me that the head chef-lady Veronica wanted their version of chilaquiles to be a little different than the norm (a few visits back, she actually told me herself that this could be ordered vegetarianized; maybe they have since changed their salsa recipe; whatever). I would think that with the pulled pork available in this dish, that might have been a good enough difference from a standard chilaquiles dish. Oh, well, looks like I will not be able to try this dish now.

Which creates a bit of an Oh-oh!-factor for me. With only four-to-five viable stupid vegetarian-friendly dishes from which to choose (since the new ownership/new head chef take-over a few years back, they are no longer offering a seasonal/changing menu), I might have to rethink this place as Breakfastary Starting Rotation-worthy. Which would be a real shame, as it has been ensconced on my list for over eighteen years now.

Luckily, they have just (as in just last month on August 4th) opened a second location (over on Polk Street ~ in the Nob Hill area) and they offer one or two other items which are not found on the original location's menu. This might prove to be a saving grace (for at least another visit or two, anyway). Plus, it is always fun to check out a new place/location.

This had a nice enough dressing (some kinda Balsamic[?]-champagne vinaigrette), but it was still just a buncha rabbit(rabbitrabbit) food with two poached eggs laid (placed) on top. This is nothing that I could not have made at home on my ownsome (... well, if I ever had any eggs [and could learn how to poach 'em successfully]... and cornmeal croutons, cucumbers, radishes, cherry tomatoes, and carrots... and rabbit[rabbitrabbit] food-stuff... in my refrigerator, that is).

I had thought about also ordering a side of their country potatoes (which I knew to be top-rate), but the size of the salad (with the addition of the illegally pilfered unborn poultry offspring) was actually a lot of food to eat, anyway.

For condimentary supplementation, Ella's American Kitchen has Tabasco® Brand Hot Sauce
(Original Red Sauce) and Tapatío® Salsa Picante
Hot Sauce. I used some of my own Golden Pagoda Jalapeno Hot Sauce (Thanks, Mom!) on top of one poached egg and some Laura Plantation
Vidalia® Onion & Peach Hot Sauce (Thanks, Greg & Cindy!) on top of the other poached egg... and several (as in my wrists got tired after a while) twist-grinds from my grains-of-paradise grinder all over the salad and eggs.

(not really just another) Strange Coffee Interlude

On the way to breakfast this morning, I stopped at the Peet's Coffee® in Laurel Village Shopping Center (which is just two or three blocks westward [Ho!] along California Street, anyway) for a freebie (well, from a $20.00 gift card compliments of my dentist ~ which would be sorta like your cardiologist giving you a $20.00 gift card to the Cheesecake Factory®) cuppa. I had originally pre-planned on getting a French Press single-cuppa (made-to-order) of one of their better seasonal Coffees (I was hoping to see something in the Ethiopian-fare). However, when entering the coffeeshop, I immediately ran into the above sign at the front door (no, really, I was not watching where I was going and actually bumped into the d*rn thing). I know 'tis the season for all things Pumpkin/
Pumpkin Spice-related, but I could not really pass up the choice of a Vanilla Cardamom Latte instead. This was made with lotsa cardamom in it, too. In my opinion, the vaniller was completely superfluous.
Peet's Coffee® has the audacity to call cardamom "the Queen of Spices". My *ss! Cardamom is the Emperor of all Spices, at the least!

Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill

Airport Breakfastary Food - Part VI
General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport, Boston, MA
(Sunday, 07/22/2018)

http://www.tastesonthefly.com/airports/bos

(I could not locate an official web-site thing. This was the best that I could find.)

Place: Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill

Location:  1 Harborside Drive, Logan International Airport, Terminal C, Boston, MA;
phonicular contact: (617) 567-5379

Hours: ??? (your guess is as good as mine; without an official web-site thing, I have no way of knowing; it was open after 8:00am for breakfast when I had arrived there, at least)

Meal: Veggie Omelet ~ fresh mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, and Vermont Cheddar (or more colloquially [or "co-locally"]: "Ched-dah") cheese, served with home fries and (wheat) toast; and a glassa orange juice with the meal; afterward, for a breakfastary dessert, a Boston Kreme doughnut and a small (12oz) cuppa Original Blend (black-no-sugar, thank you) at Dunkin' Donuts® (which was also located nearby in Terminal C)

https://www.dunkindonuts.com/en/food-drinks/donuts/donuts

(I have heard that this James Vernon Taylor-person also likes Boston Kreme doughnuts. I guess they will let just about any street-busker perform from the Dugout in Fenway Park.)

I have traveled through Logan International Airport, Terminal C many times before and have been meaning to try eating breakfast at Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill; I finally completed that try. I was not quite sure that I would actually have time to eat a sit-down breakfast, as we had left Wareham at almost exactly 7:00am. However, due to light-to-little Sunday morning traffic (and, thankfully, the torrential rains of Summer were holding off) all the way to the airport, I was dropped off (Thanks, Kerry! Another successful "Pick-up & Drop-off" completed!) with more than ample time for breakfast (and even breakfastary dessert, too).

I am not quite sure of the status of this last remaining location of the Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill franchise. I do know that the two other freestanding locations ~ one in Boston (right next to Fenway Park) and one in Jerry's birth-town of Fall River ~ have closed permanently due to financial problems (the one in Boston closed back in 2016 and the one in Fall River just closed earlier this year in May). It happens to the best of them, I suppose. Even Sam "Mayday" Malone could not save the Bull & Finch Pub from going out of business.

If this restaurant is still in business the next time that I am heading home through Boston, there were a couple of other ideas that I would possibly like to check out:

Brioche French Toast ~ made with thick cut brioche, served with pure maple syrup ('cause that un-pure stuff just ain't worth serving), add seasonal berries for only $1.00 (which is probably the way I would go);

or

Florentine Benedict ~ poached eggs, tomatoes and spinach on an English muffin topped with Hollandaise sauce, served with home fries.

I also noticed on their menu that they "Proudly Serve" Peet's Coffee & Tea[2] House Blend Coffee. I probably mighta went with a cuppa that if I had not already been thinking on getting me the cuppa
Dunkin' Donuts® Original Blend.

I was a bit disappointed that the serving dishes were not in the shape of Home Plate (or at least Second Base, What?). Tableware notwithstanding, this was a pretty decent omelette (as far as airport food standards go), but nothing quite gather-worthy. I liked that they actually grilled the toast and that the homefries were made with red potatoes with green bell peppers and onions in them.

Jerry Remy's Sports Bar & Grill offered for condimentary supplementation both Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce (Original Red Sauce) and Huy Fong Foods Inc. Sriracha HOT Chili Sauce. I just used some (well, about as much as a normal person would use ketchup) Sriracha on the homefries.

D'oh! I just thought of this after-the-fact. I shoulda ordered some of their pancakes for breakfast so I coulda shouted: "BATTER'S UP!!!"

Glen Bacon Scale Rating:
Veggie Omelet ~ 6.3;
Dunkin' Donuts® Original Blend ~ 6.4;
Dunkin' Donuts® Boston Kreme ~ 5.9 (surprisingly, as much as I love these doughnuts, and make sure to get at least one during my trips back eastward, Clint [and this trip I actually had them three times], they are just wayyyy too sweet, but they are still iconically Boston to me);
Boston Red Sox ~ 73-33 (current record; for which, I fully expect them to finish the Season at 130-33 ~ GO RED SOX!!!)

http://m.mlb.com/player/121064/jerry-remy

2. This is how the coffeehouse chain is printed on the menu; however, they have changed their name corporately to just Peet's Coffee® now.

Sadly, they are no longer a locally (as in Berkeley, CA)-owned Coffee roaster, anyway. The company had been purchased in 2012 by the same Coffee robber-barons that now own (wholly or portionally) Caribou Coffee, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, and even those Keurig Green Mountian people. So, they are not really much better now than the bastages at St*rbucks.

Peet's Coffee® used to be my go-to local place for Coffee, but I have been cutting back on going-to there lately. Do not get me wrong, I do not have a problem with a company being successful due to free enterprise (ain't that what 'merica was born on on July 4th, 1776?). I just prefer to support as many smaller, local businesses as I can.

the little chihuahua

http://www.thelittlechihuahua.com/

Place: the little chihuahua

Location: 292 Divisadero Street (between Haight and Page Streets)

Hours: open Saturday & Sunday at 10:00am for "Brunch"

Meal: Breakfast (even though it is listed on their "Brunch" menu) Burrito ~ a toasted flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled eggs, Jack cheese, your choice of beans (I chose black beans), fresh chopped cilantro & onions, Mexican potatoes, sautéed poblano chiles and onions (if anyone else is keeping count, that would be the second mention of "onions" in the ingredients) and smoky chile salsa; corn tortilla chips with salsas (of course); a glassa Piña agua fresca with the meal; (beforehand) a medium cuppa Peet's Coffee® Big Bang™ (Medium Roast); and (afterhand) a scoopa Basil Ice Cream and a scoopa Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream from Bi-Rite Creamery

http://www.peets.com/coffee/featured-category/coffee-shop-by-category-top-sellers/big-bang.html

http://biritecreamery.com/icecream

(Uh-huh! It is a not unknown fact that Lloyd Edward Elwyn Robertson is a big [BANG!?] fan of Basil Ice Cream. However, it is not known whether either Neanderthals or Australopithecuses [Australopitheci?] liked Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream[1].)

Because it has been over a year (and because I can), I returned to the little chihuahua (see last 'blog-entry from Sunday, July 10th, 2016) for breakfast (well, "Brunch") again this morning. I went back to their original restaurant (taqueria, whatever) in the Lower Haight.

the little chihuahua only offers six different items on their "Brunch" menu from which to choose. I have chosen four of them thus far and leaving only:

Mexican French Toast (also known as Emperor Maximilian I Pain Perdu) ~ two French toast battered flour tortillas cooked fresh on the grill and served with plantains, applewood smoked bacon (which I would have either ochenta y seis-ed or quatre-vingt six-ed) and topped with warm maple-agave syrup

or

Breakfast ("Brunch", whatever) Tacos ~ two grilled flour tortillas (I would much rather see these be corn tortillas, though) filled with scrambled eggs, Mexican potatoes, sautéed poblano chiles and onions topped with a smoky chile salsa and fresh cilantro & onions (again with the double dose of "onions"? what's with all the onions at the little chihuahua? I thought onions were deadly to Dogs.), and served with your choice of beans; choose either: chorizo & Jack cheese or spinach & goat cheese (of course, I would have to go with the choice of espinacas y queso de cabra).

Having arrived well over an hour before the little chihuahua even opened, I stopped by the nearby Peet's Coffee® (the one that is just a block away from the Panhandle) to get a cuppa to enjoy for a pre-breakfastary perambulation through that area of Golden Gate Park.

the Wild Parrots of San Francisco Interlude

While I was there doing the perambulatory thing, I saw a mini-pandemonium (just one pair) of the Wild Parrots flying around the tall Eucalyptus trees near the western end of the Panhandle. I also did see several Robins, Crows-and/or-Ravens, and Little Brown Birds in that area of the park.

This was another great breakfast from the little chihuahua. It was a HUGE burrito and a lot of food. At first, I thought that it might not be enough food and I was going to order an additional side of Mexican potatoes, but with the size of the burrito and the chips and salsas, it was more than enough food for me (plus, I knew that I wanted to save room for Ice Cream after breakfast). I particularly liked that this was served in a grilled flour tortilla; that beats the steamed kind any day. I always love it when potatoes are already added into the main meal, too.

So far, I would have to rank their breakfast ("Brunch", whatever) entries as: (1) Stacked Enchiladas (which was not only my favourite dish of theirs, it was a Top Ten Favourite from the year that I had it, too); (2) Chile Relleno (while not quite as "stacked" as the enchiladas dish; it was pretty "buxom" all on its ownsome); (3) Breakfast ("Brunch", whatever) Burrito; and (4) Chilaquiles (which was okay, but I have had many better chilaquiles dishes elsewhere).

For condimentary supplementation, the little chihuahua truly exceeds the limit, Mr. Federation. They have six different fresh, homemade (taqueria-made, whatever) salsas in their salsa bar. I only used three ramekins this morning and had (in order of heat-level going from hottest to mildest):
(a) Habanero ~ not as espicy as you might think (well, not as spicy as I have become accustomed), but this is their hottest salsa; this also has a great flavour of fresh limes;
(b) Chipotle ~ with a great smoky chipotle flavour; also not really that picante; this is my favourite of the six that they offer;
and
(c) Roasted Tomato ~ very mild, but also very good; this one may be gringo picante, but, at this point in my chilli career, I could barely taste or feel any heat.
For what it is worth (or for what it is worthless), they also have bottles of the completely superfluous
Tapatío® Salsa Picante Hot Sauce on all the tables.

Burritos, Ice Cream, and Coffee?! If I could have only figured out some way to incorporate Pizza and Beer into this breakfastary sojourn, it would have been the perfect meal!

Glen Bacon Scale Rating:
Breakfast (even though it is listed on their "Brunch" menu) Burrito ~ 6.7;
chips & salsas ~ 7.3;

Airport Breakfastary Food - 4

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
(Friday, 05/19/2017)

http://www.gordonbiersch.com/

http://www.flysfo.com/content/gordon-biersch

Place: Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant

Location: Terminal 3 (near Gate 74), SFO

Hours: daily, 5:00am for breakfast (well, that is according to the official information posted on the Fly SFO web-site, but I know for a fact that they were not open until a little after 6:00am [per the sign at the door and per me being the first idiot in there for the morning])

Meal: Veggie Omelet ~ sautéed mushrooms, spinach, goat cheese, breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast; a tall, cold glassa Maibock[1], which was their Seasonal Selection; and beforehand (while wandering around waiting for the place to finally open) a medium-size cuppa Peet's Coffee Sumatra

http://www.peets.com/coffee/by-region/coffee-shop-by-category-indo-pacific/sumatra.html

("Beer for Breakfast, Brian? D'ja think ya were livin' back in Germany or sumthin'?!"
Hey! It was after Noon... somewhere... in the middle of the Atlantic, probably. Plus, the barkeep assured me that there is more Vitamin C in a glassa Beer than your standard glassa orange juice[2]... or, perhaps, I misheard him, but still... )

(If you need a hint at today's EweToobular juxtaselection, I have it on good authority that
Air Traffic Controller are huge fans of die deutschen Frühlingsbiere.)

Travelling Back-East last week for a vacation, I had to get up extra early to get to SFO to have breakfast before heading to Boston. The main choices for sit-down sorta joints for (a very early morning) breakfast at Terminal 3 are limited. I was originally thinking about going to Y*nkee Pier® (which was actually open at 5:00am as stated), but as a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan, I really didn't want to patronise a place with that kinda name.
(I actually did like the sound of their Greek Scramble [eggs scrambled with spinach, mushrooms, red onion, Feta, & tapenade]. Maybe next time.)

http://www.y*nkeepier.com/

(Okay, you may actually have to add the "a" in place of the "*" in the above link to get it to work.)

Otherwise, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant only had a couple of other entries for stupid vegetarians. I could have ordered either their French Toast (thick sliced brioche French toast, choice of strawberry, banana/coconut, or blueberry topping) or Breakfast Burrito (scrambled eggs, Cheddar cheese, and bacon [of course, it is a forgone conclusion that I would have forewent the dead, decaying porky stuff] wrapped in a flour tortilla; served with a side of salsa and seasoned breakfast potatoes).

Abhorrent name of the meal aside, this was a decent enough entry for "airport food" (which is not exactly high praise; this is like being called "prettier than any of the Golden Girls"). This had a good amount of sautéed (baby?) spinach in it at least and I liked their version of homefries. I would have liked a bit more goat cheese in it, though.

The glassa Beer was a pretty large one for that early in the morning. Sadly, I only drank about 3/4 of it. That is still 75% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance of Vitamin C, right?!

(Overheard from a stupid patron: "Do you sell Bud Light?" I kid you not. Even if they do sell other Beers [they offer a few national brands in bottles], what kinda idjit orders a Bud Light at a brew-pub?! And who would order one for breakfast, anyway?!)

The only thing that I saw available for condimentary supplementation was Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce (Original Red Sauce). I really didn't feel like using any of that, so I skipped any extra additional flavour for a change.

NFL (with a San Francisco 49ers connection, too) Strange Interlude

Retired NFL Head Coach Mike Shanahan[3] was sitting two tables over from me at the restaurant. I didn't even notice him until he started talking to another table of customers that he had overheard saying they were going to Cancún (the one in Mexico) for their honeymoon. He also happened to be heading to Cancún on vacation himself that morning. I made sure to tell him to give his son best wishes for the upcoming NFL Season, too.

Up next:

Breakfasts in Wareham (the one in Massachusetts, not the much larger market town in Dorset, England).

1. Per our friendly friends at WikipediA (and mainly because I am just too lazy to look it up elsewhere):

"The Maibock* style, also known as Helles Bock or Heller Bock, is a Helles Lager brewed to Bock strength; therefore, still as strong as traditional Bock, but lighter in colour and with more hop presence. It is a fairly recent development compared to other styles of Bock beers, frequently associated with springtime and the month of May. Colour can range from deep gold to light amber with a large, creamy, persistent white head, and moderate to moderately high carbonation, while alcohol content ranges from 6.3% to 7.4% by volume. The flavour is typically less malty than a traditional Bock, and may be drier, hoppier, and more bitter, but still with a relatively low hop flavour, with a mild spicy or peppery quality from the hops, increased carbonation and alcohol content."

*(Stupid, useless cunning linguist pointer of the day:

"Maibock" translates from German as "May Billy Goat".)

2. Here's a little-known Cliff Clavinistic fact: Potatoes are high in Vitamin C.

That is not a joke. Potatoes actually possess about a third as much Vitamin C as an orange does. If you don't believe me, just check out the back of a bagga potato chips sometime. However, I really don't think that there is any market in the near future for a glassa potato juice (with or without pulp) with breakfast.

3. If you really need to ask, you probably should stop watching Football altogether, but here is a link, anyway:

Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant

Breakfast on Geary (redux), Part 31

www.overtimesf.com

(This is supposed to be their "official" website, but it does not seem to be operational yet.)

Place: Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant

Location: 4134 Geary Boulevard (between 5th and 6th Avenues); phonicular contact: (415) 702-6611

Hours: open for "Weekend Brunch" Saturday and Sunday at 9:00am(-ish; I had gotten there just a little after 9:00am and the doors were still locked up tight; so I went for a walk around the block, and when I got back about five minutes later, they were finally opening up then)

Meal: Weekly Special Eggs Benedict over Waffles ~ w/ tots or potatoes; and a cuppa (and only one refilla) Peet's Coffee® Major Dickason's Blend® (this is sorta Peet's® flagship blend/roast; it's really good enough to be promoted to Light Colonel, already, if you ask me)

http://www.peets.com/coffee/featured-category/coffee-shop-by-category-top-sellers/major-dickason-s-blend.html

(If you need any actual reasoning for the second EweToobular song, it is simply because...
Sir George Ivan. That is all, thank you. Plus, this is a great live rendition of one of his songs [not that all of his songs aren't also great]. Thanks for the video, Skip!

The third song is just some guy covering one of Sir George Ivan's biggest hits. Trust me, this guy will never make it singing any of his own songs. [Who knew Robert De Niro could sing?!])

I had stopped in for dinner a few weeks ago at Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant during the NCAA Final Four ~ which is when I noticed that they were now also open for "Weekend Brunch". (There was actually a "RESERVED" sign on one of the tables next to mine that night... now what kinda self-righteous bastage reserves a table at a sports bar?! Seriously?!) This morning, I ended up not only being the first idiot in for breakfast ("Weekend Brunch", whatever), but the entire time that I was there, I remained the only customer. It may take some time for this place to catch on as a local breakfast joint (or even a local "Weekend Brunch" joint).

Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant has only been open now since Super Bowl Weekend (this year) and have only been open serving "Weekend Brunch" since March 11th (just one month ago). It is in a space that had been vacant for many years now (easily ten to twenty years; it has been so long now that I really can't remember what used to be there; I think it was just another local Richmond dive-bar along Geary Boulevard). There is ample seating (and, as dictated by the Sports Bars of America Charter [It's a real thing; look it up!], there are many large-screen TeeVees all over the walls) of: seven tables for two; three tables for four; two tables for five (or six); four booths for four; and several (at least ten to twelve) bar-counter stools.

There are not a lot of items (yet?) from which to choose on their "Weekend Brunch" menu. Some possible other ideas for stupid vegetarian-types were: Eggs, Cheese, & Salsa over Tots or Roasted Breakfast Potatoes (this was going to be my initial choice until I spotted the absolutely disgusting-sounding choice I chose); Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast (which I can only assume is a form of French toast encrusted with the cereal of the same name); or Straw-Nana-Tella Waffles (fresh strawberries [which, I suppose, makes up the first hyphenated portion of the meal's name], bananas [hopefully, this makes up the second part of the name and it is not Hannibal Lechter's take on a breakfast utilizing bits of his ol' granny as a topping], nutella® [and, finally, the last part of the name?] sauce).

I mainly went this choice this morning because it sounded too disgusting to pass up ("... up which to pass"?). And I was 100% correct. Of course, I had them be sure to omit any of that dead, decaying Canadianlander porcine junk from my dish. I really liked this take on Benny's boring ol' ovarian creation. What a great idea to substitute Mr. Thomas' faux crumpets with waffles. "But, Brian, wouldn't waffles be too sweet for the base?" Yeah. So? What's yer point?!

Hmmmm?! I just have one question. Seeing as I only had two quarters of a Belgian waffle included in my meal, did that mean I received the leftover half of someone else's dish, or will the next person to order this be getting my sloppy-seconds?

For condimentary supplementation, Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant has Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce (Original Red Sauce) and Tapatío® Salsa Picante Hot Sauce. The waiter/server-guy person also told me that they have a Sriracha aioli if I would like some of that. I passed up on that one (this time) and just used some of my own Pepper Palace Gator Bite Hot Sauce (Thanks, Greg & Cindy!) on the tots and some Sunbelt Plantations Vidalia® Onion & Jalapeño Pepper Hot Sauce (Thanks, Cindy & Greg!) on top of one egg.
