Joe's Coffee Shop

Breakfast on Geary (redux), Lucky 13c

(Yeah, so there is no cover photo of the restaurant this morning. There was a construction scaffolding blocking the entire front of the building.)

Place: Joe's Coffee Shop

Location: 6134 Geary Blvd (between 25th and 26th Avenues); phonicular contact: (415) 668-9382

Hours: open 7:00am Sunday to Saturday

Meal: Vegetable and Cheese Omelet ~ tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, and spinach, served with hash browns and toast (where I went with sourdough again today); and a large glassa orange juice to drink

(Now I kinda wish I had ordered a side o' beans with my breakfast... [actually they do not offer these as a side on their menu, but still...])

I went back to Joe's Coffee Shop (see last 'blog-entry from just Saturday, February 2nd, 2019) this morning. This was actually my back-up "Plan B from Outer Space", Mr. Wood. I originally was planning on going back to Lincoln Park (Golf Course) Restaurant; however, they were not open at 8:15am when I had walked "all-the-way-over-there" (it is a full two blocks away, after all). They are supposably open on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:00am for breakfast now. Just-in-case they were not open, I had it in mind to simply head down to Joe's Coffee Shop (which was a whole 'nother nine blocks away, fercryin'outloud!).

Once again, I sat at their diner-counter, and, once again, there was Premier League Football (which looked a lot like Soccer, if you ask me) on the telly: M(anchester)UN(ited) v. CHE(lsea). I did not stay until the end of the match, but ManU was the first to draw blood (Goooooal!) with a Penalty Kick-thing while I was eating breakfast.

There was nuthin' fancy-shmancy about this meal. It was just your basic, good ol' diner-fare kinda omelette. I am not sure which type of cheese was in it, but it was a decent, melty kind ~ probably Monterey Jack (it was definitely not any tasteless, useless 'merican "cheese", which was what I was fully expecting). The hashbrowns were very good ~ crispy-crunchy ~ just the way I like 'em.

For condimentary supplementation, Joe's Coffee Shop offers Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce
(Original Red Sauce), Crystal® Louisiana's Pure Hot Sauce, and Huy Fong Foods Inc. Sriracha HOT Chili Sauce on the counter top and tables. I used a little of my own Old St. Augustine Datil Pepper Sauce (Thanks, Greg & Cindy!) on the omelette and H*ll's Kitchen Smoky Bourbon Hot Sauce (Thanks, Mom!) on the hashbrowns. I also made sure to use a good amount of my new The Spice & Tea Exchange® Florida Sunshine Spice Blend (Thanks, Cindy!) all over both the omelette and potatoes.

(No current official-type web-site thing still.)

Place: Royal Ground Coffee

Location: 5301 Geary Boulevard (on the corner of 17th Avenue); phonicular contact: (415) 751-5282

Hours: open at 6:30am daily (however, I do not think that the kitchen is open for breakfast until after 8:00am-ish)

Meal: Hash-Over ~ hash brown[ sic singular ] topped w/chili (which I of course 86-ed), two eggs any style (my style today was "over-medium"), Cheddar cheese, jalapeรฑo, pico del[ sic ] gallo, sour cream, & scallion, this also comes with a side of toast (I went with sourdough); and a cuppa (whatever brand/roast) their House Coffee (was; I asked, but really could not understand what the lady behind the counter said the name of the brand was)

(As far as I know, their chili does not include any baby grey seal meat in it, and I do not know if Dame Elton is a big fan of hashbrowns or not. The only reason I linked this EweToobular video was that my 2019 calendar is of Smithsonian's National Zoo[1] and the month of February highlights the Grey [or Gray] Seal [Halichoerus grypus][2].)

I was able to eat at Royal Ground Coffee (see last 'blog-entry from Saturday, August 18th, 2018) again this morning. Lucky for me, the kitchen was actually open and operational at 8:15am when I had arrived, 'cause I really had no other back-up plan planned, Stan.

Unlike those smarmy bastages at St*rbucks, this little local (mini-chain) coffeehouse offers many other decent options for cooked breakfastary fare (both for stupid vegetarians and dead, decaying fin-footed, semiaquatic marine mammal-eating meatetarians alike ["I'll have the Sloppy Nanook, please!"]):

Cheese Omelette ~ choice of cheese: 'merican (which should really only be a "choice" if there were no other cheeses offered, and, only then, if you are truly desperate for cheesy comestibles), Swiss, Cheddar, Jack, Pepper Jack, Provolone;

Vegetarian Omelette ~ spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, Provolone cheese, topped w/ avocado, pico del[ sic again ] gallo, & sour cream;

and

six different Eggs Benedict dishes, of which, only the Egg[ sic ] Florentine would be a viable vegetarian-friendly choice, though.

(Here is where there would normally be a photo of my breakfast meal. However, someone forgot to pack a d*mn camera this morning. [Sheesh! Gimme a break! It is not as if I have been doing this silly li'l 'blog-thing almost every weekend for the past ten years... it has only been the past nine years.] The photo of the front of the coffeehouse at the top of this page was just a stock photo from my last visit.)

As can be seen in the above well-focused and oh-so tantalizing photo (whatever), there was really nothing extra special about this dish, but I always like it when potatoes are the base (in this case, literally) for a meal. Now if this only had included one other interesting item on top ~ say chilli or somethin' ~ it would have been perfect...

(another not so very) Strange Coffee Interlude

Earlier this morning (I had fully planned on "sleeping-in" for a change; however, I awoke at 4:30am and could not get back to sleep) and long before heading out for breakfast, I made myself one h*ckuva good cuppa Bettys Jamaica Blue Mountain ~ aka "the Marilyn Monroe of Coffee" (Thanks, Cindy & Greg!) ~ with which to bide the time. I probably did not really need to order an additional cuppa with my breakfast, but "Coffee" is right in the name of the place, after all.

https://www.bettys.co.uk/jamaica-blue-mountain

For condimentary supplementation use, I only saw bottles of Crystal® Louisiana's Pure Hot Sauce. I used some (a lot, actually) of my own Sunbelt Plantation Vidalia® Onion & Jalepeno[ sic with รฑo tilde-thiรฑg, Ms. Swiรฑtoรฑ ] Pepper Hot Sauce (Thanks, Greg & Cindy!) all over the toppa the pile (and, with that, "♪ another one bites the dust... ♫" finally; but, everyone, please do not take this as a suggestion to send me five more bottles to replace it).

Moral of today's breakfast:
Never go clubbing with a pod of baby pinnipeds...

Frena Bakery & Cafรฉ

Breakfast on Geary (redux) ~ Part 34

https://frenabakery.com/

(I am not sure if this web-site is currently operational. When I tried to open it today, I only got a blank screen. This is the correct web-site as listed on their take-away menus, though.)

Place: Frena Bakery & Cafรฉ

Location: 5549 Geary Boulevard
(on the corner of 20th Avenue)

Hours: open Sunday at 9:00am, Monday - Friday at 8:00am, and, for some ungodly reason, closed on Saturday

Meal: Shakshuka Egg in the Basket ~ slow cooked tomatoes, bell peppers and onion; one (Chocolate) Rugelach[1]; and a 12 oz cuppa illy® to drink (I did not think to ask which roast/blend)

https://www.illy.com/en-us/shop/coffee/

Oh, my ื™ื”ื•ื”!

Frena Bakery & Cafรฉ opened up its second location in San Francisco just last month (circa January 23rd or so) and, luckily, just down the street (give or take twelve blocks) in my neighborhood. I have never been to their original location on 6th Street (even though it is only about two blocks south of Dottie's True blue cafรฉ), which is relatively new itself (I think it only opened back in December 2016).

I will have you know that I was fully planning on hating this place (I mean, what kinda bakery worth its [kosher] salt is not open on Saturday and does not open until 9:00am on Sunday?!). And so as not to be labelled as anti-semantics, I do know when to use Jewish, Hebrew, and Israeli in their correct context... you know, as in: "Those d*mn Jews!", "Those d*mn Hebrews!", and "Those d*mn Israelis!". As if my neighborhood needed another bakery in it. Already right across the street is Moscow & Tbilisi Bakery Store; there is also a brand new bagelry set to open only another two blocks away; and House of Bagels has been ensconced in their same location for many, many years now just five blocks away also on Geary Boulevard... (not to mention the number of local Chinese bakeries in the area, too).

Frena Bakery & Cafรฉ is in the same location that once housed Emma's Coffeehouse (see previous 'blog-entry from Sunday, October 4th, 2015).[2] With their newly-installed, large clay oven bakery-thing taking up a major portion of the back space now, there is not really such a large sit-down eating area remaining in the front. Currently, there are just four tables for three and one taller island-table with ten stools, which is in the middle of the area in front of the window-cases/ordering counter. I sat at one end of the taller island-table so that people with more in their groups could use the smaller tables if needed. It seemed that the majority of customers were not ordering food to eat there, but "to go", anyway.

I went with what I ordered this morning 'cause it was one of the more breakfastarily sound items on the menu (well, it included a cooked egg on top, at least). However, the range of kosher baked good items that they offer is pretty vast and very tasty-sounding. They have everything from several varieties of bagels to doughnuts (which they are calling "Sufganiya" ~ apparently an Israeli style [not Jewish style] jelly donut; and offer raspberry jam, blueberry jam, or Bavarian cream filled), challah breads (four versions) to pita breads (also four versions), Sambusaks (pocket pastries) to Burekas (puff pastries), and several other kinds of sweet pastries (not only do they offer your standard Seinfeld-ian Chocolate and Cinnamon Babkas, I even saw a loaf of Raspberry-Rose-Pistachio Babka!).

I loved this idea of Shakshuka as a flatbread as soon as I saw it on the menu! However, it did prove to be a bit hard to navigate with just the flimsy plastic fork and knife provided. I probably should have had them quarter the thing with the Pizza-cutter I saw them use on the person's order ahead of me that had ordered one of these as a take-away. No biggie. I ended up mainly eating it hand-held as you would a small-ish Pizza, anyway. Hopefully the photo above does it justice, 'cause I have no way of explaining this other than it was tomatoes and sauce with a baked egg on top of flat dough. It also came with some (Israeli style, not Hebrew style) cucumber-pickles and a small ramekin of tahini on the side. I was not quite sure what to do with the tahini, so I just dumped/drizzled it all over the top of the mess. It seemed to work fine for me.

Now the real find here was their completely awesome and unbelievably tasty (Chocolate) Rugelach. I was planning on getting some kinda sweet baked good for after the meal with which to finish up my Coffee. As luck would have it, I chose the Rugelach; and a very wise choice it was, if I do say so myself, Shlomoh! I have had other versions of Rugelach at other Jewish (not Israeli, nor Hebrew) delicatessens, but this was by far the best I have ever had. While this Rugelach may not have been actually "to-die-for", it would definitely be worth sacrificing your first born for, Abie!

I have no idea what they may have had to offer in the way of any kind of condimentary supplementation. I did not ask, nor need any. Not really knowing what they may have had to offer in the way of a breakfast menu, I did bring a few bottles of my own hot sauces, but did not see the need to mess with the Shakshuka-thing in any way (other than with the above-mentioned small amount of tahini provided).

The next time I go there (and, trust me, there will definitely be a next time... just not next Saturday), I will probably order a cuppa their Elite Israeli (not Hebrew, nor Jewish) Coffee (which, from the way the guy behind the counter described it, is basically your Greek/Turkish/Arab [Oy, gevalt!] version of Coffee with the grounds still in the bottom of the cuppa). I just did not want to hold up the long (literally) "out-the-door" line this morning where one of the only two workers behind the counter would have had to prepare that time-consuming drink for me.

I may not get back to breakfast there for a while
(the "no Saturday"-thing does not help much), but I know I will definitely be going back for lunch or dinner again... and probably sooner than you can say "Jumping Jehoshaphat!" Did I mention the Raspberry-Rose-Pistachio Babka, Jerry?!

Joe's Coffee Shop

Breakfast on Geary (redux), Lucky 13b

(No official web-site, and I am pretty sure that they will never bother themselves to get one, anyway.)

Place: Joe's Coffee Shop

Location: 6134 Geary Blvd (between 25th and 26th Avenues); phonicular contact: (415) 668-9382

Hours: open 7:00am Sunday to Saturday

Meal: Avocado and Cheese Omelet (with fresh salsa) ~ served with hash browns and toast; and a large glassa orange juice to drink

(Ol' Deckie MacManus must be a d*mn ManU fan!)

After what ended up being one h*ckova long hiatus, I finally made a return visit to Joe's Coffee Shop (see last 'blog-entry from Monday, May 7th, 2012[1]). It is not as if this place were so very close (it is well over six blocks away from my apartment building... well, seven to be exact) that I could just stop by whenever I felt like it. Actually, I had been planning on checking them out again for breakfast (I only ride past the d*rn place twice a day, to and from work) again soon, anyway. The "again soon" just happened to be "again today" because my first plan-of-breakfastary-attack was to go back to Royal Ground Coffee (see 'blog-entry from Saturday, August 18th, 2018). However, when I had arrived there just after 8:00am, I was informed that the kitchen help (I think it is just one guy) had not arrived yet this morning (they open at 6:30am and, normally, are supposed to start serving meals by 7:00am). So, luckily, I did have a back-up option (and only a few blocks away to boot [... or not to boot? Is that really a question, Wild Bill?]).

I sat at their diner-counter once again because I felt like it. Plus, there are really only a few tables in this small place and I wanted to keep those available for "real" customers. One cool thing was that I got to watch a little Football (of the Britishlander-type; better know to all youse as "Le Soccรฉr") ~ CHE(lsea) v. HUD(dersfield) ~ on the telly behind the counter (which was directly in front of me, anyway).

Because they are an olde-timey family-owned diner-type kinda joint, they offer a pretty decent and varied breakfast menu, off which, I suppose, I could have also ordered:

Vegetable and Cheese Omelet (tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, and spinach);

Mushroom and Cheese Omelet (they did not list the ingredients for this one on their menu for some reason);

Three blueberry pancakes with whipped cream;

or

Waffle with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Additionally, there is also Joe's Scramble (ground beef, mushrooms, onions, and spinach). However, I got in trouble the last time that I had ordered this dish (which was on my very first visit there for breakfast way back in 2011), because someone (whose name shall remain "Brian") forgot to ask the waitress/server-lady/(probably owner-lady, too) person to omit the dead, decaying grinded-up bovine flesh and they had to remake it all over again from scratch (scratch always tastes much better than dead, decaying grinded-up bovine flesh, anyway). Ooops!

Now here is where if I had known ahead of time that I was going to return to Joe's Coffee Shop, I woulda checked to see what I had ordered on my previous visit and probably have ordered something different this time. Saul Goode! It was almost seven years since I had this omelette and an exact repeat every seven years would not even bother Tom Ewell, I bet.

There was really nothing special about this meal. It was just your typical good ol' diner-style omelette made with lots of fresh avocado dices throughout. I am not exactly sure what kinda "cheese" was used in the dish this morning. I think it must have been some queso fresco (it was white and in chunks and did not taste like Feta to me). The last time that I had ordered this omelette, it came with that plain ol' yellow-orange (faux Cheddar-stuff) cheese in it. I think I prefer the u/i white cheesy comestible from today a bit more.

For condimentary supplementation, Joe's Coffee Shop had just Crystal® Louisiana's Pure Hot Sauce and Huy Fong Foods Inc. Sriracha HOT Chili Sauce on the counter top and tables. I used some (a goodly amount, 'cause this one is only about as hot as your standard Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce - Original Red Sauce) of my own Dragon Breath Garlic Hot Sauce (Thanks, Mom!) mixed in with the hashbrowns and some (a lot less, 'cause'n this one has both Cayenne Chillies and Habanero Chillies in its ingredients) Pepper Palace Gator Bite Hot Sauce (Thanks, Greg & Cindy!) on top of the omelette.

Glen Bacon Scale Rating:
Avocado and Cheese Omelet ~ 5.9

1. Hmmm???

I am not quite sure why I "took" a sick-day off on a Monday at the beginning of May that year. I think it might have been because I had some friends in town (Hey, Wayne-o and Donna!) and did not feel like "wasting" a day of vacation on the likes of them. (Pffft! It is not like they are really "good friends" of mine; I mean, I had only known them both as a couple for twenty years or so at that time [well, okay, maybe I had also known Wayne-o all on his ownsome for possibly another fourteen-and-a-half years prior, but still... ]).

2. This is not really that surprising. Poor ol' Huddersfield Town are currently the doormat of the Premier League with only two Wins in twenty-five Games thus far. They are kinda like that MLB Team that plays in da Bronx and everyone always seems to steamroll.

the Blarney Stone

Breakfast on Geary (redux) ~ Part 33

(No official-type web-site. It is just a neighborhood pub, what der'ya expect?!)

Place: the Blarney Stone

Location:  5625 Geary Boulevard (between 20th and 21st Avenues); phonicular contact: (415) 386-9914

Hours: open for "Brunch" Saturday and Sunday at 10:00am(-ish; just like yesterday morning, I had arrived there just a little after their "official" opening time, and I was informed by the beer-keep that the kitchen staff [or in this case, the one cook for the kitchen/pub-grub] had just arrived and the stove would take about fifteen minutes to warm up/prepare; however, unlike yesterday morning, I had already had a cuppa Coffee earlier, so I just ordered a Beer to sip on while waiting to place my order)

Meal: "Veggie" (uggh!) Omelet ~ (I am not exactly sure as there is no official-type web-site to check with, but it included) mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and Cheddar cheese (at least; there may have been another "veggie" [uggh!] or two involved, but I do not remember now), served with either steak fries (which is what I went with) or tater tots and choice of toast (I had sourdough); to drink with (and before) the meal a pinta Guinness® Stout; and prior to heading to breakfast, a cuppa (well, more like a small bowla, really) Rose Latte at home (which was just two blocks from where I had breakfast, anyway)

http://homecoffeesf.com/menu/

(I do not know if Sir George Ivan is a fan of 'merican Baseball or not, but I am sure that if he were, he would support the Boston Red Sox.)

I felt like keeping it very local for breakfast (well, "Brunch") this morning and headed over to
the Blarney Stone (which is within walking distance of my apartment ~ just twelve blocks straight down Geary Boulevard [and it was all downhill on the way there, too]). I am sure that I had eaten there before for breakfast ("Brunch", whatever), but it had been several years ago (at least before 2010, when I started keeping tabs with this silly little 'blog-thing).

They do not really offer a lot of items from which to choose on their "Brunch" menu. I think there was only one or two other choices available for stupid vegetarian-types. It is really just a pub with a small kitchen, after all.

(This is the real Caife na hร‰ireann, boyos!)

I overheard the publican say to another customer that there were "free refills" on his diet cola-drink. Unfortunately, when I asked if I got "free refills" with my Beer, I was shot down immediately (buncha cheap bastages!).

This omelette was okay, and much better than I could ever make, but that is not really much of a compliment. It was good enough for pub/bar standards, but I highly doubt that it will ever make me add the pub to my Breakfastary Starting Rotation. Vegans and stupid vegetarian alike, do not worry, the "steak" fries were actually made outta potatoes (aka "chips"/"chippers"). There was a good portion of them, too. I had almost thought about ordering a side of fried pickles, but it probably woulda been overkill for my appetite.

(Again, I am blaming the poor lighting on this blurry photo.)

I liked how their salt and pepper shakers were made out of little (airline-size) bottles of Bushmills™ (salt shakers) and Jameson® (pepper shakers). Otherwise, I only saw Tapatรญo® Salsa Picante Hot Sauce on the tables for use as a condimentary supplement. I used some of my own Punch Drunk™ Chocolate Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce (Thanks, Sean!) on the chips and some Charlie's Chili Stuff (Thanks, Sha!) sprinkled all over the top of the omelette. Strangely enough, I did not see any malt vinegar for use with the chips anywhere; I would assume that the Irish used that, too.

(not really another) Strange Coffee Interlude

To give the Boston Red Sox some more mojo-aucity for tonight's World Series Game, I wanted to order some kinda Coffee drink with some variation of "Red" in its name (I looked, but, thankfully, did not see any "Dirty Sox Latte" on their menu). I suppose I mighta coulda went with their Red Velvet Latte, which I have had before and liked, but the Rose Latte is just so much better and more unique.

Go Red Sox!!!

Glen Bacon Scale Rating:
"Veggie" (uggh!) Omelet ~ 5.9 (and this is being generous because I liked the chips and the amount given);
Guinness® Stout ~ 7.6 (there was a time when I would rate this as high as 8.0; however, I think their quality has gone down immensely in the past twenty years since becoming part of a HUGE International Beer conglomerate);
Rose Latte ~ 7.3

Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant

Breakfast on Geary (redux), Part 31b

"... Now my sense of humor needs a break(fast)... "

Place: Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant

Location:  4134 Geary Boulevard (between 5th and 6th Avenues)

Hours: open for "Weekend Brunch" Saturday at 9:00am(-ish; I had arrived there this morning about 9:07am and one of the waiter-server-person guys told me that the kitchen staff had not arrived yet for the morning and to come back in about fifteen minutes or so) and Sunday at 9:30am

Meal: Morning Tots ~ 2 eggs your way (my way this morning was "over-medium"), Cheddar cheese, house salsa, served over tots, and I went with the ADD avocado option; to drink with the meal, a glassa (well, it was really a little pewter steina/Beer-kega kinda thing) Skinny Ginger Peach ~ diet Ginger Beer, peach, lime, bitters; and, aforehand (seeing as I had to kill fifteen minutes or so until the kitchen staff decided to finally show up for the morning), a cuppa pour-over-style Snowbird Coffee Guatemala Single Origin Huehuetenango at ★ the ★ Richfield

(There is no good/d*mn [EweToobular juxtaselectionary] reason I should have to post this Dixie Chicks cover of a Maria McKee[1] song, other than I am a little bummed over the outcome of last night's Marathon World Series Game with the Red Sox losing to some Minor League team from the Anaheim, California suburbs area. Dog help me, I am sure I am not the only one that has ever felt this way.)

To give the Boston Red Sox (aka "the Good Guys") a little extra mojo-tional support for today's World Series Game, I went back to Overtime Sports Bar & Restaurant (see previous 'blog-entry from Sunday, April 9th, 2017). When they had first opened for business back in January 2017, they were primarily a San Francisco/Bay Area Sports Bar. A few weeks ago, I noticed that they are now flying both the Good Guys and New England Patriots flags outside. So, what's up with all the Boston Sports stuff now?! I asked my waiter-server-person guy why this is, and he told me that the current manager-person is supposably from Boston.

It turned out to be kinda fortunate that the kitchen staff showed up late this morning, as there was really only one other table of six idiots in the place that were stupid enough to get up that early in the morning, too. We had the place to ourselves the entire time we were eating.

There really are not a lot of choices on the "Weekend Brunch" menu, but a few other ideas I was looking at were:

Veggie (uggh!) Eggs Benedict ~ spinach, tomato, & avocado, served on English muffin w/ side of hashbrowns;

Overtime French Toast ~ thick cut toast, powdered sugar, whipped cream, maple syrup;

Breakfast Burrito ~ chorizo (which I would have omitted), scrambled eggs, black beans, Cheddar cheese, house chipotle sauce, served w/ tots or potatoes;

or

an adventurous variety of item choices for making an omelette (served w/ tots or potatoes).

Additionally, they offer a number of breakfast ("Brunch", whatever) cocktails ~ both of the alcoholic variety and the Mormon-party-animal variety (which is what I opted for this morning). However, if I had been in the mood for a tipple-taste, the one that caught my eye the most was the Belichick ~ zesty cilantro-jalapeno infused Titos, tomato juice, extra salty rim (this sounded like a more spicy version of a Bloody Mary). I actually asked them to make my drink as a "Fat" Ginger Peach and have it made with regular/non-sugar-free Ginger Beer.

(Yeah, so maybe this photo is a bit on the blurry side. I will blame that on the poor lighting in the joint. Yeah, that was it. It was just a bowl of tater tots with a couple of eggs on top, anyway, Napoleon.)

This was quite an awful lotta tots! There was nothing really special about them, though, they were just of your store-bought variety (at least, I do not think that they make their own homemade [Sports Bar & Restaurant-made, whatever] tater tots like some places do these days). I did like that it included a whole halfa avocado. Their house salsa was good, but it was just a standard pico de gallo. I also woulda liked to have seen the Cheddar cheese melted a bit more; the cheese was just melted with the radiant heat from the tater tots and eggs. I bet this would have been much better if they had used a salamander to melt the Cheddar (ร  la nachos or such).

(This is not a salamander. This is the emblem that was on my table-top this morning. I guess that southern San Francisco, down by the State University, is covered with swamps and bayous.)

After I had already placed my order, I thought that I probably shoulda gotten this with two poached eggs on top instead of the over-medium eggs. That way, it coulda been considered some sorta "Anthony Quinn Benedict" (see, Antonio Rodolfo Quiรฑones Oaxaca was part-Irish and mostly-Mexican... get it? potatoes and salsa... whatever). When I mentioned this to the young-ish waiter-server-person guy, he had abso-lutely no idea who Anthony Quinn was. What the h*ck are they teaching these kids in school now-a-days, ฮ–ฮฟฯฮผฯ€ฮฌ?!

I also like that they offer several different potato options: the titular "Tots" in my meal, hashbrowns, roasted potatoes, and French fries (while this one is not on their "Brunch" menu, I bet you could get them to substitute some... if the kitchen staff has the time, that is).

For condimentary supplementation, Overtime offers both Tabasco® Brand Pepper Sauce (Original Red Sauce) and Tapatรญo® Salsa Picante Hot Sauce.
I just used some more of my own Chelsea Fire Wicked. Hot. Sauce.® (Thanks, Sha!) on top of one of the eggs. I also used several (well, many several) grinds from my grains of paradise grinder all over the pile.

(not really such a) Strange Coffee Interlude

I was planning on heading over to ★ the ★ Richfield, anyway, after breakfast for a decent cuppa, as they are located only two-and-a-half blocks away. So, I just ended up going "before" instead of "after". As strange as this may sound, I rate this particular blend/roast higher on the Glen Bacon Scale than their Zatara blend/roast; however, I think that I actually prefer the Zatara a bit more. ("Whaaat?!" Don't ask me. I am still trying to figure out just what the h*ck human-males need nipples for.) Both are quite excellent on their ownsome.
Moral of the story: When the kitchen staff comes in late and hands you lemons, go get you a decent cuppa Coffee nearby.

Go Red Sox!!!
